Have had no experience with communicators but my 12 yearold son rides with me from time to time. He has been on an ambulance ride with me which he really enjoyed - used a whole film in his camera taking pictures of bikes he liked. He has his own bike which gives him an understanding of bike handling which is useful when riding pillion. Some months ago I had a minor crash which I thought might stop his pillion riding tendencies but it didn't. He was quite useful really as I was actually pinned under my bike, the motor screamming its head off, petrol pouring out of the tank and I was unable to reach the kill switch. Matt had bailled of the bike before it hit the road and before he needed to be told calmly reached over top of me and hit the kill switch - I guess again that having his own bike gave him more insight into what needed to be done in the circumstances. Who needs communicators anyway - he uses a signal if he wants me to slow down or stop - I preferr not to ride with my kids though as my time on my bike is for me - Its my time to unwind and de-stress- I just like being out there with the sound of my bike and the highway!
